Children of the Epidemic: A Cross-cultural Study of AIDS Orphanages South Africa, Botswana, Uganda


  • Provider at a pediatric medical clinic for tuberculosis and HIV-infected patients in Durbanville, South Africa
  • A medical aid worker at Princess Marina Hospital in Botswana, a participating site for research associated with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, focusing on the reduction in mother-to-child transmission of HIV
  • Collaborated with members of the CDC and USAID in Entebbe, Uganda, providing housing and nutrition for children orphaned by AIDS
